Braga Fresh, headquartered in Soledad, Calif., issued a recall notice due to a positive listeria test at a Texas store location for “a single production lot of washed and ready-to-eat 12oz Marketside Broccoli Florets with best if used by date Dec 10, 2024,” on Dec. 27, with the United States Food and Drug Administration publishing the notice on fda.gov on Dec. 31.
The notice added, “The specific product involved are 12oz bags of Marketside Broccoli Florets sold at Walmart stores identified by having a UPC code 6 81131 32884 5 on back of bag, with Best if Used by Date Dec 10, 2024, and Lot Code: BFFG327A6 on front of bag. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention official website, “Listeria can cause invasive illness and intestinal illness” and “is the third leading cause of death from foodborne illness in the United States.”
Symptoms vary depending on the individual and the type of illness, invasive or intestinal.
The Walmart Supercenter located at 909 E Wishkah Street in Aberdeen is on the list of affected locations published by Walmart.
According to the advisory, no illnesses have been reported, and consumers who have the product should discard it.
