Two brothers suspected in a drive-by shooting in Aberdeen on May 12 have been arrested, according to Aberdeen Police Lt. Kevin Darst.
The older suspect, identified as Ashton J. Brooks, 19, was arrested Sunday at about 5 p.m. His younger brother, who is 17, was arrested on Monday at 10:20 a.m. at a different location.
On May 12, the 26-year-old victim was shot in the arm during the incident that took place at around 3 p.m. in the 300 block of West King Street. According to Detective Jeff Weiss, the victim told police the suspect was driving a newer black Infinity G-35 two-door coupe.
A press release with a picture of the vehicle led to numerous tips from the public that assisted Aberdeen detectives to develop a case against the two brothers, Darst said in a press release.
Police suspect the incident is gang related. The shooting may have been in retaliation for a 2017 incident in which Brooks was shot with a crossbow, Darst said. Brooks refused to cooperate with police investigation during the crossbow incident, and signed a waiver of prosecution ending the investigation.
Brooks was charged with two counts of first-degree assault, and a separate count for a drive-by shooting at his arraignment on Tuesday. The younger brother will be arraigned at Grays Harbor Superior Court on Thursday and faces the same charges.
The black Infinity was located and a search warrant was served for the vehicle.
