Grays Harbor Raceway runs on Saturday
Grays Harbor Raceway is back this Saturday April 26 with Round 2 of the 2025 racing season.
The IMCA Modifieds along with the 360 Sprints are back along with the season debut of the PHRA Dwarf Cars and the IMCA Northern SportMods.
Pits open at 2 p.m., with spectator Gates open at 4:30 p.m., cars on track at 4:45 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.

Extravagant Mermaid Festival continues its run
The incredibly popular Mermaid Festival invites visitors for one last weekend in April.
As always, this fin-tastic, free and family-friendly event is held at Westport Winery Garden Resort, home of the International Mermaid Museum. Even museum admission is free during the festival as each Saturday and Sunday (April 26, and 27) boasts a fleet of world-class entertainers along with talented local artists and tempting treat purveyors.
Special festival performers include the Northwest’s most famous mermaid, Una in her tank, Siren Circe will preside on the mermaid throne in the museum, Vertical Axis aerial acrobats Nick Perry and Amanda Thornton will electrify the sky while suspended from a 20-foot tower, Rachel Novak, the Sailing Siren, will thrill guests with fire dancing, and the enchanting Pacific Northwest Unicorns are eager to have their photos taken with their fans.
Mermaids from around the Northwest will share their culture and love of the sea throughout the festival. The Ono Wahine Mermaid School will detail what it takes to become a professionally certified mermaid. Members of the Mystic Menagerie, the South Sound Pod, the Emerald Sea Sirens, the Cascadia Pod, the Whidbey Island Sirens Pod, the Shadowscale Squad, the Mutiny Mermaid Pod and Portland’s Mermaid Cove, will host a variety of events and entertainment during this incredible celebration of all thing’s mermaid.
In many arts and crafts tents in the 15-acre display garden, guests can meet the creators in person as they shop woodworking, jewelry, knotwork, acrylic and watercolor paintings, jewelry, soaps, candles and gifts.
Mixed media artists offer fantastical face painting and hilarious balloon animals while LaNae weaves shimmering mermaid hair, Westport Bubble Works creates interactive fun and Lighthouse Wellness offers massages.
The Master Gardeners will host a free plant clinic and tool sharpening each Saturday. Festival attendees can enjoy a variety of delicious delicacies including mini donuts, cotton candy, ice cream, coffee, burgers, hot dogs, roasted nuts and lemonade.
Each day in the museum kids are invited to join a Pirate’s Treasure Hunt with prizes for those who complete the puzzle and find the treasure.
The International Mermaid Museum is dedicated to teaching ocean ecology from seashore to sea floor immersed in mermaid mythology, uniting world oceanic cultures.

She Kills Monsters coming to the Driftwood Theatre
The Driftwood Players are opening the show She Kills Monsters on Saturday, April 26 and running through Sunday, May 18.
She Kills Monsters is a drama comedy intended for older adolescents and adults.
She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans, a young woman grieving for her deceased sister. The Evans sisters were never especially close, but after Tilly’s death, Agnes receives a notebook containing a game scenario created by her sister. She discovers that Tilly was a well-known Dungeons and Dragons player, and is catapulted into a world of fairies, evil cheerleaders and sword fights with the help of Tilly’s friends. Balancing her job, love life, and her grief, Agnes begins her own quest to finally understand Tilly, and in the process, learns just how important it is to let your true self shine.
The play is written by Qui Nguyen, directed by Alex Eddy with mentored director Libby Carrico.

The Scoop on Soil workshop
The Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties Master Gardener Program is hosting “The Scoop on Soil” workshop Sunday, April 27, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Elma Fairgrounds Dog Barn.
Speakers will discuss the history of Grays Harbor’s soil and the health of soil. They will have demonstration tables on:
Soil magnetism, pH and testing;
Understanding potting mix content;
Container and terrarium planting.
This workshop will take place on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Elma Fairgrounds Dog Barn.
St. Mary School SPIRIT Auction
Every two years, St. Mary School in Aberdeen hosts its biggest celebration of the year — and you are invited.
The event starts with a 5 p.m. social hour, followed by dinner and the live auction at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 26. Cost is $75 per person and includes entree choice of salmon, chicken or ratatouille, appetizers, salad, bread, rice pilaf and seasonal vegetables, and beverages (wine, beer, signature cocktail, water, coffee).
The SPIRIT Auction is more than just a fundraiser — it’s a night of fun, fellowship, food, and giving in support of student scholarships, teacher salaries and critical school needs.
This year’s auction holds extra meaning. They will honor the life and legacy of Mary Drake, the heart of St. Mary School for so many years. Proceeds will help grow the Mary Drake Scholarship Fund, supporting future generations in her memory.
