Tabled a request to send out a request for proposals for the inventory and appraisal of the city’s museum collection.
Voted 7-6, with Mayor Douglas Orr casting the deciding vote, to approve the mayor as the designated signer and the parks director and assistant parks director project approvers for the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office project involving the installation of artificial turf at Pioneer Park field #3. Also authorized the mayor to sign the Certification of Applicant Match for that project.
Authorized the mayor to execute the contract with HWA GeoScience to complete the application submittal for recertification of the South Shore Levee.
Awarded the 3rd Street slide repair construction contract to Rognlin’s, Inc., contingent on concurrence to award from FEMA.

Ocean Shores
Announced two vacancies on the Parks Board, two on the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee and one on the Library Board of Trustees.
Representatives of a nonprofit new to the region known as Respite for All, which serves people with Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, and seniors who need assistance, gave a presentation about their purpose and services.
City Administrator Scott Andersen discussed the annual city clean-up, the Damon Point closure, the termination of the federal BRIC grant program and the cancellation of the tsunami tower project.
Finance Director Sara Logan gave a comprehensive quarterly budget update.
Mayor Frank Elduen appointed Councilor Richard Wills as the liaison for the hotel coalition, and provided an update on attempts to get a fire break constructed along the coastline, and indicated that the city is hoping to start construction on the walk-in clinic in mid-June, while the driving range at the golf course is expected to be back in operation in mid-May.
Approved the purchase of an ambulance for the Ocean Shores Fire Department at a cost of $274,088.
Councilor Rich Hartman led a lengthy discussion about the Ocean Shores municipal sign code, with Planning Commission Chair Mark Lawlis presenting proposed changes.
Wills led a discussion of hotel cleanliness and a proposed ordinance regarding “the health, safety, morals and general welfare of the citizens” when it comes to short-term occupation facilities such as hotels, motels, vacation rentals, bed and breakfasts, or any other less than 30-day temporary accommodation.
