City of Aberdeen appoints first Student Council Representative

The Aberdeen City Council has chosen Audon Allen as the city of Aberdeen’s first Student Council Representative.

“Audon is currently a senior at Harbor Learning Center and has been a resident of Aberdeen for two years. When he first started at Harbor Learning Center, Audon was way behind on credits and not as motivated as he needed to be,” said Human Resources Director Dani Smith. “Now, he has completed so many classes that he is ahead in credits, will be graduating a little early. Not to mention he has raised his GPA by a considerable amount. He is a kind and open person who works hard to achieve tangible results.

As The Student Representative, Audon will attend scheduled workshops and regular council meetings twice a month to provide insights and feedback on issues affecting young people in Aberdeen.

He will also collaborate with other council members to develop and support initiatives that benefit the community, serve as a liaison between Aberdeen High School students and the City Council, as well as observe how city government functions.

Audon was sworn in under an oath of office at Wednesday night’s City Council Meeting. He will begin his term on Jan. 8.
