Local radio personality Doug McDowell experienced a medical event while on the air during his morning “Coffee Talk” show on KBKW-1450 on Tuesday morning.
McDowell hosts the popular drive-time local talk show each weekday morning from 6 to 10 a.m
“Sometime between 8:30 and 9 a.m., listeners began calling saying there’s something wrong with Doug,” said Bill Wolfenbarger, president of Jodesha Broadcasting. Wolenbarger said Tuesday at mid-morning that they weren’t sure yet what had happened.
Radio colleague Rhys Davis checked in on McDowell and found him disoriented and called 911. The station changed to syndicated programming for a brief period. According to Wolfenbarger, medical personnel responded to the station and McDowell was taken to a hospital for treatment, but there was no update on his status as of late Tuesday morning.
Wolfenbarger said Bill Hardy, who sometimes fills in for McDowell, will temporarily take over beginning Wednesday morning.
