Cosmopolis Festival in the Park returns at Lions Park

The decades-old Festival in the Park in Cosmopolis will go off this Sunday at Lions Park, accompanying the end of the Loggers Playday over the weekend.

The event’s regular venue, Mill Creek, is not available due to ongoing work, according to a news release from Mayor Linda Springer.

The festival is returning to its original Sunday date, Springer said in a phone interview.

“It always was a tradition. They’d have it on Sunday after Loggers Playday,” Springer said. “I decided to move it back. It just makes sense.”

The event will begin at 8 a.m. with a fundraiser breakfast at the Lions Club near the park, running to 11 a.m., which will help raise money for the Cosmopolis Fire Department. Local bands, including Shades of Gray, John Prentice, and Ms. Maki and Company will play at varying times throughout the festival until the conclusion at 4 p.m. — a complete schedule will be available online, Springer said.

About 30 vendors from local businesses and restaurants will be selling food or goods during the festival, including artists and other artisan goods sellers. Kids’ activities, including a bounce house sponsored by the Lions Club, will be available for children.
