Crash victim airlifted after rollover accident on SR 109

Road closed near Hogans Corner for several hours after trailer comes loose causing crash

Grays Harbor Scanner first reported that a trailer came loose from its tow vehicle and caused a rollover crash on state Route 109 near Hogans Corner at mile marker 14 on Saturday at 1:32 p.m.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Vickie L. Heath of Aberdeen was airlifted to Tacoma General Hospital.

In a press memo, the Washington State Patrol said that 57-year-old Lawrence M. Thompson of Elma was traveling southbound on SR 109 in his 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 pick-up truck while towing a homemade trailer, when the trailer broke free and struck a northbound 2021 Hyundai Tucson driven by 65-year-old Heath, causing her Tucson to roll over into the northbound ditch.

The cause of the accident is specified as “unsecured trailer.” No charges have been filed, however, the status is listed as “under investigation.”
