Dead man in suspicious death investigation identified

He was found dead during a 911 call Thursday afternoon

A man found dead under suspicious circumstance in Hoquiam on Thursday has been identified.

Bryce Bitar, 34, of Aberdeen, was identified as the decedent by Grays Harbor County Coroner George Kelley. The cause of death is still pending, according to a news release from the coroner’s office.

Bitar was found dead Thursday before noon after Hoquiam police responded to a 911 call about a man screaming for help near Lower Simpson Avenue, around Doug’s Small Engine Repair, The Daily World previously reported.

The body was transported to the Thurston County medical examiner’s office for an autopsy on Friday, said Lt. Brian Dayton of the Hoquiam Police Department.

Detectives are continuing to investigate and interview people of interest, Dayton said, as well as processing the copious amounts of evidence recovered from the scene, including DNA evidence.

Police are still working to establish the relationship between a 35-year-old Aberdeen man and who was transported for further medical care from the scene and the dead man, Dayton said.

There’s no threat to the public, Dayton said.
