Deer with hammock stuck in antlers is freed

Subdued with tranquilizer dart

Officers from the state Department of Fish and Wildlife have caught and assisted a deer in Ocean Shores that had a full-sized hammock tangled in his antlers.

For the past few weeks, locals reported seeing the deer with what looked like heavy netting stuck on his head, but officers with tranquilizer guns were unable to catch him.

On Oct. 27, they successfully hit the deer with a dart and subsequently freed him from the hammock, with officers standing by to make sure more aggressive bucks didn’t attack while the deer recovered.
