Horror movie scenario plays out for female driver in Aberdeen
A Cosmopolis police officer who had just completed a transport to the Hoquiam Jail was heading back to his station Thursday around 11 p.m. when he came across a vehicle spun out at Simpson Avenue and Park Street in Aberdeen. When he stopped to investigate a male fled from the vehicle on foot, according to a report by Aberdeen Police Sgt. Darrin King. When an Aberdeen officer arrived to investigate he was told by the female driver that her 18-year old boyfriend had hidden in the back seat of her car, and when she started driving she saw him in her rear view mirror.
She told police her boyfriend assaulted her and stole her cellphone before fleeing. Offers received a tip the suspect was hiding at a home in the 1900 block of West 5th Street, where the suspect refused to come out. Hoquiam Police officers and the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office were called in to assist. The suspect eventually surrendered peacefully and the stolen phone was recovered. The man was booked into the Aberdeen Jail for Domestic Violence Assault 4th Degree and Theft 3rd Degree.
Man found dead at Amazing Grace homeless camp
A man was found dead at the homeless camp at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Aberdeen Thursday. “The coroner was there and called a mortuary that took possession of the deceased,” said Aberdeen Police Lt. Kevin Darst. “We are still investigating and at this time do not have a cause of death.” There was not an obvious cause of death at the scene. Darst says an autopsy will be conducted Saturday.
