Hoquiam burglar caught by K9 … again
A burglary suspect was sniffed out by a Hoquiam Police dog Tuesday, and it wasn’t the first time. The 23-year old Hoquiam suspect tripped the alarm at a marijuana production facility in the 500 block of South Adams Street shortly after noon. The first responding officer saw a door that had been forced open, then heard the suspect breaking through brush to the east. Hoquiam officers and Grays Harbor County deputies set up a perimeter, and a K9 officer was deployed. The suspect, when found hiding in thick brush and briars about 200 yards from the building, refused to show his hands or comply with officers’ commands. The police dog “contacted” the suspect, after which he was taken into custody and taken to the hospital for “treatment of minor injuries,” according to Hoquiam Police Sergeant Jeff Salstrom. The suspect was then booked into the Grays Harbor County Jail for second degree burglary.
“This suspect is well known to local officers,” said Salstrom. “He was apprehended in 2009 by late Hoquiam Police K9 ‘Enno’ after stealing a vehicle in north Hoquiam and damaging a patrol car.”
