Calls to emergency services

Man cited for theft at Aberdeen Museum

The director of the Aberdeen Museum contacted police March 3 to report the theft of $15 of merchandise, according to Aberdeen Police Lt.. Kevin Darst. The director told an Aberdeen Police sergeant that a man came in inquiring about doing court-required community service and identified himself by his full name, leaving a phone number. When the director noticed the merchandise missing from a shelf, he viewed the security film and saw that the man who had inquired about community service was the one who stole the item. The officer then viewed the video and recognized the man from previous encounters. He located the suspect a short time later and cited him for third degree theft.

Felon with a firearm busted at West Boulevard

Aberdeen Police responded to a shots fired complaint near 311 South West Boulevard in the early morning hours of March 10. Dispatch advised a white Honda passenger was involved and still on the scene, but unoccupied, and a maroon Toyota Camry was also involved and had fled the scene to the south. The original caller and other witnesses identified the suspect as a Cosmopolis man who had argued with people in front of the caller’s home. The caller asked the suspect to keep it down and the suspect got into an argument with him. When he failed to provoke a fight with the caller, the suspect walked away, firing a single gunshot. Officers found a spent .40 caliber casing at the scene.

Officers searched the area for the suspect, who was last seen walking toward Cosmopolis, and a K-9 was called in to assist, but could not locate him. Later that night the suspect was located at his home and arrested without incident. He was cited for unlawful discharge of a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm.
