WSP: Investigation continues into Oct. 30 SR 109 pedestrian death
The State Patrol investigation continues into the death of 25-year old Kolton L. Beglinger on State Route 109 north of Hoquiam Oct. 30. “There is no information on the case at this time,” said Trooper Russ Winger Tuesday. “Toxicology is pending on the victim.” The Ocean Shores man was apparently lying in the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle in the early morning hours of Oct. 30. Coroner Lane Youmans described the cause of death as blunt force injuries to the torso.
Jogger jumped near bakery
A man called authorities claiming he was assaulted early Wednesday morning while jogging on the 200 block of State Street near the Franz bakery. Aberdeen Police and Fire responded and found the victim, who said he was struck on the right side of his face, knocked to the ground and stomped and hit by two assailants who stole his iPod and iWatch before fleeing. The victim gave a description of the attackers, both white males with long hair and beards, and said he could identify the suspects. The victim was medically cleared, taken to the station to have his injuries documented, given a ride home and told to call police if he saw the men again.
‘What batteries?’
Aberdeen police responded to a report of a detained cooperative shoplifter at Swanson’s on Boone Street about 5 p.m. Tuesday. A store employee had recognized the male suspect from a previous incident and witnessed him take batteries and place them in his front pocket. When stopped and asked where the batteries were, the suspect replied “What batteries?” at which time the batteries fell from his sweater. Found to have an outstanding municipal court warrant, the 22-year old man was placed under arrest, transported to Aberdeen Jail and cited for first degree criminal trespass and third degree theft.
Couple maced on Schley
A man and a woman at the 7-11 on South Boone Street reported to an Aberdeen Police officer about 8:15 p.m. Monday that, while stopped on the gravel road on Schley Street, a subject came up to the driver’s window, yelled and sprayed mace into the car, hitting bothof them. Neither victim saw the suspect but the female said it sounded like a male she has had problems with in the past. Aberdeenfirefighters responded and assisted both subjects with decontamination.
