Elma man arrested after fleeing domestic violence call

He drove onto the golf course before striking a fire hydrant

A man was arrested after fleeing police in a high speed chase near Elma on Sunday afternoon.

Sheriff’s deputies were responding to an in-progress domestic violence/assault call near Wakefield Street in Elma when an Elma officer, responding to a call for backup, saw the suspect vehicle leaving the scene, according to an Elma Police Department social media post.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, according to the post, but it fled at a high rate of speed west down Monte-Elma Road, eventually driving onto the Oaksridge Golf Course, the post said. The subject was arrested after crashing into a fire hydrant and attempting to escape on foot, before being booked into Grays Harbor county jail.
