A coordinated rescue effort by multiple agencies led to the successful recovery of a lost fisherman on the Lower Queets River Road last Thursday morning.
The Quinault Indian Nation Emergency Medical Services, Quinault Nation Public Safety, Quinault Indian Nation Emergency Management, and Quinault Department of Natural Resources Fire teamed up with Grays Harbor Fire District #4, Olympic National Park, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and Olympic Ambulance Service to locate the missing man.
The search began Wednesday night after the fisherman became lost in the area.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deployed a drone to drop survival gear to the individual during the night.
Thursday morning, search teams from all involved agencies were deployed, sending two five-man teams into the woods to locate and safely extract the fisherman.
The individual was found and escorted from the woods before being transported for evaluation by Olympic Ambulance.
