Bob Torgerson, longtime chief of the Aberdeen Police Department, died overnight, the department said in a release Saturday morning.
Few details were available. The department said the news came from a social media post by Torgerson’s brother-in-law, who indicated the chief had a brief illness leading up to his death.
Torgerson was hired in 2004, moving to Aberdeen from the Midwest for the job.
He retired in July of 2017 and had been active in a number of volunteer efforts. He served on the Hospital District 2 Commission for Grays Harbor Community before resigning a few months ago.
