Firefighters from Grays Harbor Fire District 2 and the Aberdeen Fire Department responded Tuesday afternoon to a fire on Aberdeen Lake Road.
A robust response and good cooperation between the departments allowed firefighters to rapidly extinguish the fire with no injuries reported, said Lt. James Sande of District 2.
“It was outbuildings, sheds basically,” Sande said in a phone interview. “They were fully involved on arrival and quickly put out.”

The call came in at 1:48 p.m., Sande said, and the cause is still under investigation. Based on the information from the initial call, both GHFD2 and AFD immediately mounted a substantial response.
“They decided to empty the city for us, which was greatly appreciated,” Sande said. “Our agencies have a great working relationship.”
When units arrived on scene, the fire was found to be more manageable than expected and the AFD units were able to leave the incident in the hands of District 2, Sande said. The fire was wrapped up within a matter of hours, Sande said.
The buildings were a total loss, Sande said.
