Forkum resigns Hoquiam Ward 6 council seat

Hoquiam Ward 6 City Councilwoman Angela Forkum has resigned from the council to attend to family matters.

Mayor Jasmine Dickhoff read Forkum’s resignation notice at Monday’s City Council meeting. Forkum said she was honored to have served her community on the council but the time had come to focus on the needs of her family. The resignation was effective immediately.

Forkum is the fourth council member to resign this year. Kim Simera left her Ward 6 position when she moved out of the city in March and was replaced by Dave Hinchen; Kevin Swope resigned to take a Police Services Officer job and was replaced in August by Shannon Patterson in Ward 3; and Ward 2 Councilwoman Logan Livingston resigned when she moved out of the area in September. Steven Puvogel recently took that position.

Anyone registered to vote in Hoquiam’s Ward 6 who can commit to meeting the second and four Mondays of each month at 7 p.m. can apply for the seat. Letters of interest should be sent to City of Hoquiam, attn. Council Secretary, 609 8th St., Hoquiam, WA 98550.
