Last year, the Grays Harbor Community Foundation awarded a grant to the Central Park Lions Club for park improvements.
Their park revitalization project started in the fall of 2020 with the help of grants and donations from many organizations and individual donors, they were able to create a safe place for families, local kids and organizations to gather.
Since 2020, the Grays Harbor Community Foundation has awarded a total of $62,200 to the Central Park Lions Club Park through several grant cycles.
The past two summers Montesano Little League held 18 baseball games for T-ball and coach pitch teams. Grays Harbor Young Life held their annual wiffleball tournament at the park. During the summer of 2024 there were over 20 family gatherings for family reunions. parties including birthdays with bounce houses being set up, graduation and baby showers and also company picnics.
Their most recent grant from the Foundation enabled them to add concrete for their walkway and basketball/pickleball court. Soon they will be putting up the fencing and backboard for the half court. They were also able to purchase and place a container for secure storage for ground keeping equipment and other supplies. It has been wired for lights and ventilation and when weather warms it will be painted.
Dan Peterson, current Central Park Lions Club President, said, “Thank you for your help, Central Park Lions Club cannot thank Grays Harbor Community Foundation enough. Without your help we would not be able to provide a safe and functional community park.”
