Port of Grays Harbor public facilities, including the Westport and the Hoquiam 28th Street boat launches, are open and Friends Landing is scheduled to reopen for camping Monday.
“With the recent Phase 2 designation for Grays Harbor and (the Department of Fish and Wildlife’s) decision to open recreational fishing in Marine Area 2, the boat launch, fishermen’s boardwalk and the Centennial Viewing Tower are all now open at the Westport Marina,” read a statement from the Port Thursday.
The marina office at 326 Lamb St. in Westport is scheduled to open to the public Monday, with limited access, and face masks encouraged. Marina staff remains available by phone, 360-532-9562, and email, marina@portgrays.org.
“The 28th Street boat launch and viewing tower are open, but users are asked to practice social distancing and refrain from gathering in groups,” read the Port statement. “The restroom at the 28th Street boat launch and viewing tower remains closed.”
Friends Landing, on the Chehalis River off the end of Katon Road in Montesano, is preparing to open for camping “no later than June 1, with modifications,” according to the Port statement.
“No cash will be accepted and the caretaker window will remain closed,” read the statement. “The picnic shelters will also open for reservations, with limited group sizes and public restrooms facilities will reopen as well. Friends Landing’s playground will remain closed.”
Friends Landing is open for day use, but park users are encouraged to maintain social distancing and avoid gathering in groups. Port of Grays Harbor headquarters at 111 S. Wooding Street in Aberdeen remains closed to the public, as does the Satsop Business Park office.
