Historical Seaport to celebrate 30 years with open house Wednesday
Grays Harbor Historical Seaport celebrates its 30th anniversary on Wednesday evening with an open house starting at 7 p.m. at the Landing, 500 Custer St., in Aberdeen.
Christie Barchenger, the Seaport’s director of science education, will talk about new programs starting up for local students. There will also be a presentation about the master plan for Seaport Landing — the future maritime heritage site.
Though the official scholarship donation drive ended earlier this month, the organization still needs help to finance educational sails for local fourth and fifth graders on the tall ships.
Two children can take a three-hour trip for $35. Private foundations are providing matching funds to covert the cost for all children who otherwise wouldn’t be able to sail.
