Three faculty earned tenure at Grays Harbor College. The newly announced full-time tenured faculty at Grays Harbor College are Donald Burke, Heather Monaghan and Evan Yankey.
The process before tenure is awarded includes a three-year probationary period of rigorous peer and student evaluation, self-evaluation, support for professional growth, and increasing levels of college and community services.
Evan Yankey
Evan Yankey is a GHC alum and a member of GHC’s Diesel Technology faculty. He has been an instructor at the College since 2020. Yankey holds an associate degree in Diesel Technology and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Management from Grays Harbor College. Prior to GHC, Yankey was the Lead Mechanic/Vehicle Manager at Sky Harbor Shuttle and a Diesel Mechanic with Kenworth Northwest.
Heather Monaghan
Heather Monaghan is a member of GHC’s Criminal Justice faculty. Monaghan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada, Reno, a masters degree and a Ph.D. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Monaghan has been with GHC since 2022.
Donald Burke
Donald Burke has been a member of GHC’s English faculty at Stafford Creek Corrections Center since 2022. Burke holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from California State University, Bakersfield, a Master of Arts in English Literature from California State University Long Beach, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Medieval Studies from the National University of Ireland, Galway. Prior to GHC, Burke served as a Lecturer of English Literature for Coso Community College’s Incarcerated Student Education Program.
