While the recent rain has made for slippery roads, created a need for rain slickers and put a damper on what was a blue sky-filled fall season, it has also ended the restriction on a burn ban throughout Grays Harbor and Pacific counties.
As of 12:01 a.m., on Tuesday, the Grays Harbor County Fire Marshal’s office and surrounding fire districts lifted all restrictions on outdoor burning within Grays Harbor County, according to a release on Tuesday from the Office of the County Fire Marshal.
Even with the burn restrictions being lifted, the public must keep in mind the “importance of completely extinguishing all fires that will not be attended, by dousing with water or moist soil and stirring with a shovel until all parts are cool to the touch,” according to the release.
For anyone in need of further information about the lifting of the burn restriction, they should contact their local fire district.
For daily updates on burn restrictions, contact the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (WSDNR) at 800-323-BURN, or visit the WSDNR website at www.dnr.wa.gov/programs-and-services/wildfire-resources, and contact Olympic Region Clean Air Agency (ORCAA) at 800-422-5623, or visit the agency’s website at www.orcaa.org.
For residents who live near the beaches and would like to start a burn on the beach, they must ignite their fire at a minimum of 100 feet from the dunes. For more information, contact Washington State Parks at 360-902-8844, or visit their website at www.parks.state.wa.us.
