The unemployment rate in Grays Harbor County stood at 6.5 percent in November, tied for the fourth highest in the state with Garfield County behind Pend Oreille, Ferry, Pacific and Wahkiakum counties, according to the State Department of Employment Security.
Grays Harbor County tallied a civilian work force of 28,762 in November, with 26,867 employed, leaving 1,865 listed as unemployed. The rate in Grays Harbor County was up from October’s 6 percent, when it ranked as the third worst in the state.
Pacific County recorded 8,505 in its civilian labor force in November, with 7,914 employed, accounting for the 6.9 percent unemployment rate for the month. That’s up from 6.1 percent in October.
Statewide, there were 5,100 jobs gained in November and the unemployment rate was 4.3 percent, according to Employment Security. There were only two counties in the state in November with less than 4 percent unemployment: King County with 3.5 percent and Snohomish County with 3.8 percent. The county with the highest unemployment rate in November was Ferry with 9.6 percent.
