Grocery Outlet expands into Elma

Grocery Outlet Bargain Market, an extreme-value grocery retailer, continues its expansion in Washington with the opening of its newest location in Elma on July 18.

The store off of Eagle Drive has helped create 30 new jobs in the community and will provide big savings on name-brand, high-quality merchandise for local consumers, according to a news release.

Grocery Outlet offers the same trusted brands as traditional grocery stores but at lower prices. Its buyers scour the country to find the top manufacturers with excess inventory and seasonal closeouts so Grocery Outlet can offer “WOW savings” on thousands of name-brand products at significantly lower prices. Grocery Outlet stores are independently operated by local families who are committed to supporting their communities.

“I am so thrilled to become an integral member of the Elma community, offering substantial savings on quality groceries to my neighbors,” said independent operator Shannon Browning. “Through my collaboration with Grocery Outlet, I have the opportunity to expand my business, generate employment opportunities in Elma, and, most importantly, contribute to the betterment of the local community.”

Located at 10 Eagle Drive Elma, the store is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Grocery Outlet is based in Emeryville, California. The company has more than 450 locations throughout California, Idaho, Maryland, New Jersey, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Washington. Stores are owned by independent operators based in the communities they serve.

Grocery Outlet offers a full range of products, including fresh produce, meat, deli, and dairy, along with a wide assortment of natural and organic choices. Grocery Outlet also carries a large selection of beer and wine, health and beauty care, and seasonal items. Grocery Outlet was founded in 1946.

To celebrate the Grand Opening, Browning donated $500 to both East County Food Bank, a nonprofit organization with a primary focus of reducing hunger in the community, and to the Elma School District Food Bowl, which helps raise food, funds and awareness for local food banks in Elma, Malone and McCleary ahead of the holiday season.

As part of its commitment to giving back to the community, the new store is also participating in Grocery Outlet’s 14th annual Independence from Hungerâ Food Drive, from store opening on July 18 through July 31, to combat food insecurity. The campaign will collect cash donations and pre-made bags of nonperishable foods at the Elma Grocery Outlet to be distributed to local food agency partners like East County Food Bank and the Elma School District Food Bowl.

The first 100 customers attending the store opening will receive Grocery Outlet Bliss Buck gift cards in mystery amounts ranging from $5 to $500. In addition, all shoppers will receive a free limited-edition reusable bag while supplies last.
