High wind advisory issued for coast on Saturday

A high wind advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in areas along the coast and inland from it. Windy conditions are expected to develop mid-morning Saturday through late afternoon, and will affect both coastal towns including Ocean Shores, Westport, and Hoquiam, according to the National Weather Service,.

The high winds are expected to start Saturday morning (between 9 a.m. and noon) and persist for a few hours ahead of a cold front that will move across the area, according to a weather notice. Winds 20 to 35 mph are expected, with gusts from 45 to 55 mph.

Gusty winds may snap some weaker branches, could produce an isolated power outage, and will make travel in high-profile vehicles difficult. Winds will last 3 to 5 hours before diminishing.
