Highway camera spies stolen vehicle, leads to drug bust

On Sunday, April 13, at 5 a.m., Aberdeen officers received an alert from the Flock Safety Cameras that a possible stolen vehicle had entered the city limits from U.S. Highway 12.

At 6:43 a.m., the possible stolen vehicle was located by officers in the 100 Block of North Alder Street. At the time, the vehicle was occupied by a male driver. A high risk vehicle stop was conducted in the 200 Block of North Alder Street.

The male driver was detained and arrested a short time later as the vehicle was confirmed stolen. The vehicle was seized as evidence and searched at the Aberdeen Police Department. During the search a firearm was recovered along with methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

The suspect was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle and driving while license suspended or revoked 3rd degree.
