The State Patrol has concluded that what was originally thought to be a hit-and-run collision that injured a pedestrian on State Route 109 March 17 was not a collision at all.
“During the investigation, it was determined the incident was not a hit and run, or even a collision,” said Trooper Chelsea Hodgson. “Washington State Patrol detectives were unable to locate any evidence of a collision occurring.”
The pedestrian, a 39-year-old of Cornelius, Oregon, woman told the Daily World Monday she had no recollection of the incident, which occurred about 10:18 p.m. as she was walking on the southbound shoulder just north of Pacific Beach. She was airlifted to Tacoma General Hospital.
“Additionally, none of the involved pedestrian’s injuries were consistent with a collision,” said Hodgson. “The involved pedestrian was later determined to have only sustained minor injuries, possibly from falling.”
