Hoquiam City Hall is closed to the public effective Tuesday, according to a statement by City Administrator Brian Shay.
“As things are rapidly changing related to the COVID-19 outbreak, City Hall will be closed to the public effective tomorrow,” he said in the statement released Monday. “There have also been additional changes to the Hoquiam Municipal Court.”
The City will continue to offer services but under a limited basis. Inquiries should be made via phone with the appropriate department:

• Court – 360-538-3965
• Community Services/Cemetery – 360-538-3970

If you are having an emergency related to your water or sewer services after business hours you may contact the emergency line at 360-533-8935 and for all other emergencies remember to call 911.
“The city provides many critical public services and will continue to do so by limiting face to face access and following CDC recommendations on how to limit the spread of COVID-19, while still serving our customers,” said the city release.
Beginning Tuesday, customers needing to pay will have the following options:
• Calling the applicable department as listed above.
• Mailing your payment to City of Hoquiam, 609 8th Street, Hoquiam, WA 98550
• Utilizing the City Hall drop-boxes at the front door or in the alley
• Online at www.cityofhoquiam.com.
Payments are still due at their normal times.
At the Hoquiam Municipal Court, all hearings including arraignments, pretrial conferences, motions, compliance review hearings and trials currently scheduled will be continued. Criminal arraignments and pretrial hearings will be scheduled/continued approximately six weeks unless the court determines that a sooner setting is required in the interest of public safety.
There will be no traffic court through the end of April. All mitigations and contested hearings currently scheduled will be continued to May 12.
The municipal court front counter is closed to the public until further notice. The public may contact court staff by phone, mail, email or fax.
“These changes are designed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 virus and will remain in effect until further notice. We appreciate your patience and understanding,” read the city statement.
