Hoquiam fire hits two homes Thursday morning

On Thursday morning both the Hoquiam and Aberdeen fire departments were called to a structure fire of two houses in the 900 block of Mill Avenue in Hoquiam.

Initial crews found heavy fire from the main building starting to burn a second home. Crews struck a second alarm and made an attack on both homes. The main fire building suffered major damage but crews were able to limit damage to the second home.

No firefighter injuries were reported, however one occupant was treated for smoke inhalation and went to the hospital. Unfortunately two cats were lost in the fire. The Cosmopolis Fire Department and Grays Harbor Fire District 2 assisted, due to mutual aid agreements.
