The $500,000 construction project at the Hoquiam Library is nearing completion, said Hoquiam city administrator Brian Shay.
“We’re getting close to wrapping it up before Thanksgiving,” he said.
Contractors recently ran into a few surprises, none of which are expected to push the construction completion date back significantly. As crews began to pull up the old flooring, they discovered that the original installers “used the wrong glue,” said Shay, so the wood floor underneath suffered some damage. That fix will run about $7,000 but has to be done before any new flooring can be installed, said Shay.
The city plans to have a grand re-opening celebration after construction is complete but no date has yet been set.
