Hoquiam man found dead Sunday, apparent victim of homicide

A 35-year-old Hoquiam man, Andrew Detwiler, was found shot to death at a boat launch on the Humptulips River Sunday, according to Grays Harbor County Sheriff Rick Scott.

A fisherman reported the body at about 9 a.m. Sunday at the launch located at 1344 State Route 109, about 10 miles west of Hoquiam. Coroner Robert Kegel confirmed the cause of death after an autopsy was performed Monday.

“Based on the evidence at the scene it was apparent that Detwiler was the victim of homicidal violence,” said Scott. Deputies, assisted by the State Patrol and Fish and Wildlife officers, spent the remainder of the day processing the scene for evidence, and the investigation is ongoing.

Scott urges anyone with information on the investigation or Detwiler’s whereabouts Saturday evening to call Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office Detective Sergeant Darrin Wallace at 360-964-1742 or Chief Criminal Deputy Brad Johansson at 360-964-1723.
