The Hoquiam Police Department is investigating a suspicious death reported Thursday morning.

“At about 11:08 a.m., police were dispatched to the area of the 2000 block of Sumner Avenue, near Doug’s Small Engine Repair, regarding a male subject yelling for help,” said Hoquiam Police Chief Joe Strong in an interview. “Officers arrived within three minutes and immediately observed a deceased male subject within the residence. Officers on scene determined the death to be suspicious in nature and secured the scene.”

The man yelling, a 35-year-old Aberdeen resident, was taken to Harbor Regional Health in Aberdeen, Strong said.

“One male subject was transported from the hospital with unknown injuries,” Strong said. “The association between the decedent and the male transported to the hospital is unknown at this point.”

The victim is currently unidentified, Strong said.

“Detectives from the Aberdeen Police Department and Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office are assisting us with the investigation,” Strong said. “Based on the nature of and circumstances surrounding this suspicious death, we will be processing the location as a crime scene.”
