If you have been past the Hoquiam police station in the last few months, you have probably noticed the construction of the new storm water pump station in their parking lot. It is a component of the North Shore Levee Project.
As part of the construction, it now requires the destruction of much of their parking lot, as well as part of 10th Street in front of their station. Everything will be repaired in a couple of weeks, but things will be a little messy until then.
Because of the work, access to the police department will be extremely limited over the next few days. In addition, the access to their parking lot under the Simpson Avenue Bridge is also closed. While their lobby will remain open, they encourage you to call if you have any questions or business.
If you need to speak to an on-duty officer, call the non-emergency dispatch line at (360) 533-8765. If you have other business at the police department, such as questions about records, the jail or to speak with police administration, (360) 532-0892 ext. 133. If there is an emergency situation, call 911.
“We apologize for the inconvenience,” said Lt. Jeff Salstrom. “The levee is a vital piece of infrastructure to keep our cities safe and hopefully make home ownership more affordable by eliminating flood insurance requirements for many residences.”
