Hospital’s donation competition to benefit Grays Harbor Youth Center

East and West campuses at Grays Harbor Community Hospital vie to collect most items for center

Grays Harbor Youth Center, a resource and service center for displaced youth of Grays Harbor County, will be the beneficiary of donations collected during a competition between the East and West campuses at Grays Harbor Community Hospital.

The aim is to collect the most hygiene and food items for use at the center, which provides information and referral services as well as a safe place to spend the night for teens between the ages of 13-19 for up to 90 days. Youths have access to beds, laundry services, showers and case-management services along with 24-hour supervision and mentoring for those in need.

The hospital staff has participated in similar events in the past that have benefited such local organizations as PAWS, Friendship House, Grays Harbor Food Bank, Aberdeen-Hoquiam schools and Teen Backpack program.

Community members who want to participate can email nalong@ghcares for details about dropping off items for the center. Collection of the goods ends Sept. 23.
