A contractor working on remote timberland off Donkey Creek Road north of Hoquiam discovered human remains Tuesday, according to the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation has just started and it is unknown if a crime has occurred, said Undersheriff Brad Johansson. The identity of the remains has not been determined. Investigators were examining the scene as a homicide investigation, but Johansson said that is common practice in a death investigation until more details are known.
The contractor was working for Green Diamond Resources. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office and the Grays Harbor County Coroner’s Office worked late into the evening and most of Wednesday. Search and rescue workers were brought to the scene to assist in removing brush and searching the area for any possible evidence.
If anyone has information that could help investigators they should contact Detective Sgt. Paul Logan at 360-964-1751. If the information is urgent, call the dispatch non-emergency number at 360-533-8765 to reach someone immediately.
