Jay Inslee will serve a second term as governor of the state of Washington. The incumbent Democrat garnered 56.3 percent of the vote on election night to turn back challenger Bill Bryant. The last Republican governor in Washington was John Spellman, who held office from 1981 to 1985.

Fellow Democrat Cyrus Habib was elected Lt. Governor, tallying 55.8 percent of votes cast to defeat Marty McClendon.

The tally for governor was extremely close in Grays Harbor County with Bryant receiving 50.55 percent of the vote, to Inslee’s 49.45 percent.

Kim Wyman retained her position of Secretary of State. The Republican incumbent defeated challenger Tina Podlodwski, pulling in 53.14 percent of the vote.

Duane Davidson won going away in the race for State Treasurer with a 17-point margin of victory over Michael Waite.

Incumbent Bob Ferguson got 69.22 percent of the vote to more than double the vote tally of challenger Joshua Trumbull and will retain his position as Attorney General.

Mike Kreidler dominated challenger Richard Schrock, receiving 60 percent of ballots cast for Insurance Commissioner.

Hillary Franz will serve as the next Commissioner of Public Lands. A member of the Democratic Party, Franz received 54.89 percent of votes cast to pull out the win over Republican Steve McLaughlin.

The closest race on election night was for the office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, which saw Chris Reykdal capture 51.16 percent of the vote over Erin Jones.
