Johnson named chief nursing officer at HRH

Grays Harbor College grad ascends to top nursing post

Shannon Johnson, MSN, RN, has been named as the new chief nursing officer (CNO) for Harbor Regional Health (HRH).

Johnson earned her Associate of Science in Nursing from Grays Harbor College in 2010 and completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2018 and a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership and Management in 2022 at Western Governors University.

“We’re excited to have Shannon guiding our nursing teams into the future,” said Tom Jensen, CEO of Harbor Regional Health. “She truly represents what HRH stands for — commitment, compassion, and excellence. Her path from local student to chief nursing officer is inspiring to all of us.”

After graduating from Grays Harbor College, Johnson joined Harbor Regional Health in 2010 as a nurse in the Medical/Surgical department. In 2013, she transitioned to critical care, and In 2018, Johnson was promoted to a management role overseeing critical care, the emergency department and ambulatory infusion services. In 2022, her responsibilities expanded further to include the Medical/Surgical and Telemetry departments.

Johnson replaces outgoing CNO Dori Unterseher who is retiring.

According to the press release, Johnson’s “appointment underscores HRH’s ongoing commitment to developing local talent and fostering strong healthcare leadership from within the community. With her vision, experience, and dedication, Shannon is well-positioned to lead Harbor Regional Health’s nursing team toward continued success.”
