South Beach residents will have an opportunity to participate in a knot tying workshop on Oct. 15 from 2-5 p.m.

Your instructor will be Captain John Johnson, a longtime fisherman and expert knot tier. He and his wife spent many years fishing the waters around the Hawaiian Islands and he has many stories to tell.

Experience the creation of a variety of interior and exterior knot designs and learn how to enhance objects with functional and artistic knots.

Learn a Turks head knot, a crown knot, herringbone weave, running Turks head and many more.

Cost for the workshop is $45, with all supplies provided, including a small glass fishing float to work on.
