Lynnette Reime to step in as the acting North Beach superintendent

District looking for a permanent replacement

The North Beach School Board of Directors has appointed Lynnette Reime, principal of Pacific Beach Elementary School, to step in as the acting superintendent until later this month as the board searchers for a longer-term interim superintendent and then a permanent replacement for the position held less than two years by Deborah Holcomb.

In the wake of intense criticism from teachers, parents and students, Holcomb’s contract with the district was terminated by a unanimous vote of the board last month, and the board has started the formal process to replace the position.

First, it is seeking applications for the interim position, beginning in April 2018, through June 30, 2018, and possibly longer.

A letter of interest, resume, and references should be sent to Board Chair dcato@northbeachschools.org with a copy to ptimpson@northbeachschools.org. Applicants should also indicate availability for potential interviews at North Beach School Conference room, times to be specified later.

Applicants are also requested to address their experience and ability regarding:

• Prior school superintendent or related experience.

• District-wide experience in budget development and oversight.

• Academic leadership, goal setting, and support for improving student achievement.

• Promoting a safe learning environment for schools and addressing student discipline issues.

• Effective listening and communication skills and with parents, staff, and the school community.

• Successful, mutually respectful management of labor relations and negotiations.

• Promoting sustained community involvement and interest in school programs.
