Man arrested following stabbing in Montesano

One suspect has been arrested.

A man was arrested Monday following a stabbing incident that occurred early that morning in Montesano.

The Montesano Police Department received a call just after 6 a.m. that a 45-year-old man had been stabbed at a residence on the 2200 block of East Beacon Avenue by a male subject who fled the scene according to an MPD news release.

Montesano Fire and Aid transported the victim to Harbor Regional Health Community Hospital for treatment for a non-life-threatening puncture wound, according to the news release. The victim was released from the hospital after treatment.

Law enforcement personnel from the MPD, Elma Police Department and Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office cordoned the area and deployed a K-9 tracking team to locate the subject, but efforts to locate him were unsuccessful.

Further investigation into the incident revealed the victim had not been truthful with police due to their relationship with the suspect, who was known to the victim and who had not fled the residence, according to the news release. Police took a 42-year-old man into custody, who was charged with felony assault and transported to Grays Harbor County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
