Man arrested for murder in Westport

The investigation is still in its early stages, and more details are forthcoming.

A Westport man was arrested and charged with second-degree murder Monday afternoon following a report of a death.

Steven D. Bunch, 58, is currently detained without bail in the Grays Harbor County Jail.

Deputies from the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched for the report of a death of his son, a 35-year-old Westport man at the Hammond RV Park at approximately 3:35 p.m. on Monday afternoon, according to a news release from Chief Investigations Deputy Darrin Wallace.

Determining the circumstances around the death were suspicious, deputies requested assistance from the department’s detectives, according to the news release.

Detectives ascertained that the 35-year-old man and Bunch had been in an altercation before the death of the 35-year-old, alongside evidence of physical assault. Bunch was arrested for second-degree murder.

Detectives continued to process the crime scene; the investigation is in its early stages, according to the news release.
