Man arrested for pulling out a gun during ‘road rage’ incident

The Aberdeen Police Department reported that on Friday, at about 8:43 a.m., officers were dispatched to a “road rage” incident at W. Market Street and N. Jefferson Street.

It was reported that both vehicles had stopped, and one driver brandished a pistol before stabbing the other vehicle’s tire.

Officers arrived at the scene and spoke to the victim, a 65-year-old Westport resident. The driver advised that he had made a turn when the driver of a black Chrysler 300 began honking, yelling and making hand gestures toward him. He stated that the Chrysler drove around his vehicle and came to a stop.

The driver of the Chrysler then exited his vehicle, removed a pistol from his waistband, and pointed it in his direction. The suspect then pulled out a knife, stabbed the tire, and left. The victim was able to provide a license plate number for the suspect’s vehicle.

The driver of the Chrysler was identified as a 42-year-old Oakville resident. During the course of their investigation, officers determined that the suspect was inside a building in the 500 block of W. Market Street.

Officers responded to the location, surrounded the building, and announced their presence, directing the suspect to exit the building, which he did. The suspect was arrested without incident and booked into the Aberdeen City Jail.

The suspect’s backpack was located inside the building. A search warrant was obtained for the backpack, and the suspected pistol used in the incident was recovered.
