A 38-year-old Deer Park man died when he was run over on Highway 12 late Friday night about four miles east of Montesano, the State Patrol said.

The State Patrol report said a sport utility vehicle driven by a 55-year-old Aberdeen woman was driving west in the outside lane with one passenger in the car when the driver saw a car parked by the side of the road and began to steer the vehicle to the inside lane.

The man who was killed, Sergey Y. Sokolov, was laying in the roadway in the inside lane, according to the State Patrol report, and died at the scene.

The incident happened just before 11 p.m. and the road was blocked for more than six hours.
