McCleary sees salvo of city staff resignations

A number of city senior staff members in McCleary have confirmed that they’re resigning from employment with the city, taking jobs elsewhere.

Public Works Director Chad Bedlington, City Clerk-Treasurer Jenna Amsbury and Police Chief Sam Patrick have all confirmed that they have submitted resignations, and will be departing within the month.

“I’ve enjoyed the opportunity, but due to personal reasons, I’ve decided to move on,” Patrick said in a phone interview.

Amsbury also expressed her regrets that she wouldn’t be able to continue to help the city work toward the future.

Patrick and Bedlington have both served in their positions for several years, both joining the city following the election of Mayor Chris Miller. Amsbury resigned from her position as a city councilmember and from her job at the county to take the clerk-treasurer position late last year.

Their time with the city has occurred during a period of great strife between the mayor and the city council.

All three have confirmed they’re taking positions with other organizations. No announcement has yet been made from the city, and the job openings have not yet been posted on the city’s website as of Monday afternoon. Miller did not immediately respond to an email requesting comment.
