Two people were hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision in Oakville Tuesday.
According to Washington State Patrol, the at-fault driver, Jason T. Schneider, 43, of Montesano, was charged with driving under the influence. He, along with a 23-year-old Oakville woman, were transported to area hospitals.
At 6:47 p.m. Tuesday near milepost 35 on U.S. Highway 12, Schneider was driving westbound in a 2002 Hyundai Elantra, as the Oakville woman approached from the other direction in a 2003 Subaru Forester, according to the state patrol.
Schneider attempted to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone at a curve in the road, and collided head-on with the approaching vehicle.
The woman was transported to Providence Saint Peter Hospital and Schneider was transported to Summit Pacific Hospital.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, according to the state patrol.
