Motorcyclist medevac’d after striking deer

A 36-year-old Aberdeen man was airlifted after striking a deer while driving a motorcycle on Wednesday evening.

The man was driving on the 1200 block of North River Road south of Cosmopolis, said Chief Dave Golding of the Aberdeen Fire Department.

“We were dispatched to an injury accident,” Golding said. “We responded along with Grays Harbor Fire District 15. They were first on scene.”

The Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Department, with assistance from the Washington State Patrol, also responded, said Chief Criminal Deputy Jason Wecker. Life Flight Network was alerted for a medevac.

“We arrived and found a patient in critical condition. They were airlifted to St. Josephs,” Golding said. “They set up a landing zone not far from the scene.”

Wecker said there is an investigation into the suspicion of driving under the influence.
