The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a high surf advisory for Ocean Shores and Westport starting at midnight Friday and ending 6 p.m. Saturday.
Both locations could see west swells of 16 to 20 feet, with durations nearing 20 seconds. This means the waves will have higher energy allowing them to run farther up the beaches. High surf can cause significant beach erosion, and large waves can sweep quickly up beaches and over the top of jetties. Debris in the high surf can also be hazardous to beachgoers.
