North Beach area hit with second major power outage in a week

The North Beach area, including Moclips, Seabrook, Taholah, Copalis Crossing, Burrows Road, Ocean Beach Road and Bernard Creek, were without power for about four hours on Sunday.

Grays Harbor PUD first posted the outage affecting 2,867 customers on their website at 2:45 p.m.

According to Grays Harbor PUD, power was restored to most customers by 6:50 p.m. No cause for the outage was indicated. This is the second major outage to hit the North Beach area in less than a week with the last one attributed to vandals on Feb.18-19.

On Friday, Feb. 21, Grays Harbor PUD crews responded to a downed wire and open circuit in Quinault. The outage affected 475 customers from Quinault, Kalaloch, Queets and Clearwater. Early Monday morning, crews also tended to damaged equipment that caused an outage for 600 customers at Porter Creek Road West and South Bank Road south of Elma.
